Investment Strategy

To provide capital growth over the long-term (5-10 years) by investing at least 80% of the Fund's assets in the shares of Japanese companies. At least 80% of assets invested in equities of companies that are domiciled, or carrying out the main part of their economic activity, in Japan. The Fund may invest in small capitalisation companies.

Prior to joining the Firm, Shoichi spent four years with Postipankki as the Tokyo representative in capital markets. He began his career with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in 1989. Shoichi obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Waseda University and an M.B.A. from Simon Fraser University.

He then moved to TALCEF Global Asset Management as Executive Director, Japanese Equities and joined Chase Fleming Asset Management in 2000 as a Senior Fund Manager within the Japan Portfolio Group.

Biography From 2000 until 2008 Richard, a British national, was working for Boyer Allan Investment Management Ltd. as a Fund Manager. Working closely his co-Fund Manager, Alexander Griffin, he managed the Boyer Allan Japan Fund. At its peak the Fund had approximately US$860million of assets under management and in 2003 won AsiaHedge’s Award for ‘Best Fund in Asia’ and ‘Best Fund in Japan’. Prior to working at Boyer Allan, Richard worked for Jardine Fleming from 1990 until 2000. He was appointed Fund Manager of their Japan Fund, the Japan Trust in 1995. Richard was later appointed Manager of their Jardine Fleming Technology Funds, including Japan Technology, Pacific Technology and Eastern Technology. Richard’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from London University and a post-graduate in Politics and Economics from Kobe University in Japan.
