Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 2.03%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which rose 3.08% or 2.29 points to trade at 76.60 at the close. Meanwhile, ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 2.29% or 1.490 points to end at 66.490 and Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) was up 2.25% or 1.90 points to 86.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which fell 5.75% or 2.30 points to trade at 37.70 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) declined 4.02% or 13.00 points to end at 310.00 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was down 3.96% or 36.0 points to 873.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 124 to 78 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.02% to 43.720.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.64% or 7.20 to $1139.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 7.95% or 3.91 to hit $45.29 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 8.76% or 4.75 to trade at $49.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 2.95% to 66.244, while EUR/RUB rose 3.78% to 74.808.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 95.45.
