Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.41% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which rose 2.67% or 1.43 points to trade at 55.07 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 2.27% or 0.177 points to end at 7.979 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 2.13% or 0.99 points to 47.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which lost 0.83% or 1.80 points to trade at 215.00 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 0.76% or 0.10 points to end at 13.00 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) shed 0.42% or 0.75 points to 179.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES (PA:SESFd) which rose 5.63% to 21.00, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 4.84% to settle at 6.242 and Neopost (PA:NPOS) which gained 4.62% to close at 35.80.
The worst performers were Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was down 2.77% to 11.045 in late trade, Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) which lost 0.83% to settle at 215.00 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which was down 0.76% to 13.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 391 to 224 and 102 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.11% to 16.25.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.45% or 5.60 to $1248.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.45% or 0.72 to hit $50.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.44 to trade at $52.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.0724, while EUR/GBP fell 0.84% to 0.8586.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 100.01.
