Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services, Consumer Staples and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 1.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1), which rose 2.21% or 1.770 points to trade at 81.750 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 1.76% or 0.440 points to end at 25.400 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) was up 1.67% or 1.930 points to 117.540 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which lost 4.07% or 1.23 points to trade at 28.96 in late trade. VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) declined 3.46% or 1.11 points to end at 31.01 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA) shed 3.43% or 0.960 points to 27.000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 167 to 101 and 9 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.73% or 8.65 to $1172.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $53.71 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.06 to trade at $56.83 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.98% to 21.2156, while EUR/MXN fell 1.58% to 22.3612.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.77% at 102.17.
