Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 3.97%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 9.57% or 1.61 points to trade at 18.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 4.20% or 2.16 points to end at 53.61 and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) was up 2.52% or 0.40 points to 16.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which fell 13.41% or 0.59 points to trade at 3.81 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 12.57% or 0.67 points to end at 4.66 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 11.53% or 0.43 points to 3.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 198 to 107 and 4 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.23% to 51.11.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.30% or 3.50 to $1168.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.08% or 0.51 to hit $46.59 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.63% or 0.85 to trade at $134.03 .
USD/BRL was up 3.48% to 3.8947, while EUR/BRL rose 3.71% to 4.4337.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 94.79.
