Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power & Energy, Diversified Holdings and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 14.64% or 11.30 points to trade at 88.50 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) was up 11.82% or 147.80 points to 1397.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanka IOC PLC (CM:LIOC), which lost 10.74% or 4.50 points to trade at 37.40 in late trade. Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) declined 7.14% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) shed 7.14% or 0.100 points to 1.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 65 and 74 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.23% or 0.11 to $47.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.52% or 0.26 to hit $49.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.31% or 4.05 to trade at $1328.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.04% to 192.225, while USD/LKR fell 0.01% to 145.640.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 94.65.
