Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metal Products & Machinery, Electricity and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 2.36% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were AK Enerji (IS:AKENR), which rose 8.11% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. Izmir Demir Celik (IS:IZMDC) added 7.08% or 0.17 points to end at 2.57 and Arcelik (IS:ARCLK) was up 5.94% or 1.13 points to 20.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Besiktas Futbol Yat. (IS:BJKAS), which lost 3.37% or 0.20 points to trade at 5.74 in late trade. Anadolu Efes (IS:AEFES) declined 1.45% or 0.32 points to end at 21.82 and Gsd Holding (IS:GSDHO) shed 0.76% or 0.010 points to 1.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 251 to 77 and 77 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.09% or 13.70 to $1247.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $42.17 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.06 to trade at $44.63 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.49% to 2.8477, while EUR/TRY fell 0.43% to 3.2129.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 94.75.
