Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.12% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 8.70% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.750 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 3.64% or 0.020 points to end at 0.570 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was up 1.56% or 0.08 points to 5.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 4.32% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.330 in late trade. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) declined 4.07% or 11.50 points to end at 272.00 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) shed 3.62% or 0.050 points to 1.330.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 32 and 27 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.45% or 0.20 to $44.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.68% or 0.32 to hit $47.24 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 2.01 to trade at $1256.61 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 2.88% to 341.120, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 324.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 97.16.
