Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.04% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chenming Mold (TW:3013), which rose 9.79% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) added 9.71% or 0.17 points to end at 1.92 and Everest Text (TW:1460) was up 6.69% or 0.90 points to 14.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hota Ind (TW:1536), which fell 9.88% or 12.00 points to trade at 109.50 at the close. Giantplus (TW:8105) declined 9.88% or 1.70 points to end at 15.50 and Cheer Time (TW:3229) was down 9.49% or 1.30 points to 12.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 704 to 144 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cheer Time (TW:3229) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.49% or 1.30 to 12.40.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.10% or 0.34 to $30.82 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.53% or 0.16 to hit $30.34 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.00 to trade at $1091.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.54% to 33.440, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.1984.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 99.06.
