Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.20%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which rose 4.29% or 1.62 points to trade at 39.39 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 3.41% or 0.49 points to end at 15.03 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 3.14% or 0.13 points to 4.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which lost 2.47% or 1.82 points to trade at 71.83 in late trade. Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) declined 2.33% or 0.132 points to end at 5.535 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) shed 2.14% or 1.68 points to 76.93.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 17.13% to 6.60, Arkema (PA:AKE) which was up 8.79% to settle at 63.00 and GTT (PA:GTT) which gained 7.00% to close at 29.64.
The worst performers were Iliad (PA:ILD) which was down 4.31% to 215.25 in late trade, Eurofins Scientific (PA:EUFI) which lost 3.14% to settle at 320.45 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was down 3.00% to 356.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 330 to 319 and 118 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.16% to 25.54 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.28% or 15.90 to $1257.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.29% or 0.10 to hit $34.56 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.05 to trade at $36.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.64% to 1.0939, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.7740.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 97.75.
