Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.93% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which rose 10.00% or 0.82 points to trade at 9.02 at the close. Meanwhile, U-Tech (TW:3050) added 9.89% or 0.84 points to end at 9.33 and Jui Li (TW:1512) was up 9.09% or 0.44 points to 5.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merry Eltrs (TW:2439), which fell 8.65% or 5.20 points to trade at 54.90 at the close. Tpk Holding (TW:3673) declined 8.50% or 7.10 points to end at 76.40 and Ching Feng (TW:9935) was down 7.52% or 0.85 points to 10.45.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 614 to 226 and 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.49% or 0.17 to $35.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.42% or 0.16 to hit $38.16 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.20 to trade at $1073.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.29% to 32.867, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1960.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 97.87.
