Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Insurance and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nichirei Corp. (T:2871), which rose 5.47% or 60.0 points to trade at 1157.0 at the close. DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) added 2.06% or 75.0 points to end at 3720.0 and Nikon Corp. (T:7731) was up 1.93% or 29.0 points to 1530.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included TDK Corp. (T:6762), which lost 6.26% or 450.0 points to trade at 6740.0 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) declined 5.77% or 72.5 points to end at 1183.0 and The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. (T:8750) shed 5.05% or 75.5 points to 1421.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1371 to 563 and 129 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.21% to 20.68.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.70% or 0.31 to $44.79 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.60% or 0.28 to hit $46.76 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.23% or 3.05 to trade at $1338.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 100.93, while EUR/JPY rose 0.02% to 113.29.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.43.
