Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Capital Goods and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 9.96% or 31.65 points to trade at 349.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd . (NS:WIPR) added 2.33% or 12.95 points to end at 569.70 and Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) was up 2.26% or 3.80 points to 171.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 2.24% or 16.65 points to trade at 725.85 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 2.16% or 7.60 points to end at 344.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 1.53% or 1.20 points to 77.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 10.07% to 348.80, Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was up 1.93% to settle at 568.20 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.92% to close at 1316.55.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.21% to 726.50 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 2.17% to settle at 344.40 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was down 1.53% to 77.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 849 to 608 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 436 rose and 351 declined, while 16 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.36% to 15.8975.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.62% or 6.70 to $1084.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.42% or 0.17 to hit $41.90 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.25 to trade at $44.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 66.195, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 70.8090.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 99.24.
