Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.77% or 0.51 points to trade at 29.00 at the close. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 1.62% or 1.75 points to end at 109.85 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 1.56% or 1.65 points to 107.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delhaize Group (BR:DELB), which lost 1.51% or 1.41 points to trade at 91.89 in late trade. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 0.77% or 0.95 points to end at 123.00 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.61% or 0.21 points to 34.78.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 62 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.47% or 5.70 to $1227.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.02% or 1.19 to hit $38.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.54% or 1.04 to trade at $39.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1197, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7840.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.91.
