Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Household and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 4.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 12.95% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.157 at the close. Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) added 10.86% or 0.215 points to end at 2.195 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 8.33% or 0.02 points to 0.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr), which lost 6.36% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.620 in late trade. ThesKi Port (AT:OLTr) declined 5.28% or 1.11 points to end at 19.90 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 5.14% or 0.038 points to 0.702.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 27 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.47% or 18.95 to $1273.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.24% or 0.62 to hit $49.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.66 to trade at $49.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.40% to 1.1270, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.7679.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 93.96.
