Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 3.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 2.90% or 0.66 points to trade at 23.41 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 0.93% or 0.10 points to end at 10.82 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) was down 0.54% or 0.13 points to 23.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which lost 7.41% or 0.71 points to trade at 8.87 in late trade. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) declined 6.74% or 0.71 points to end at 9.83 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 6.49% or 0.60 points to 8.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 255 to 68 and 25 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 10.75% to 34.31 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.68% or 9.10 to $1332.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.07% or 1.94 to hit $45.68 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.07% or 3.20 to trade at $151.57 .
USD/BRL was up 1.88% to 3.2741, while EUR/BRL rose 1.07% to 3.6579.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 95.32.
