Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 3.79% or 29.00 points to trade at 795.00 at the close. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 3.64% or 0.0920 points to end at 2.6200 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) was up 3.06% or 29.0 points to 978.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which lost 5.56% or 0.0353 points to trade at 0.5997 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.74% or 1.220 points to end at 24.500 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) shed 3.65% or 105.0 points to 2775.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 100 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.35% to 34.460.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.57% or 6.95 to $1210.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.49% or 0.24 to hit $48.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.17 to trade at $49.72 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.47% to 67.0088, while EUR/RUB rose 0.80% to 74.820.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.52.
