Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 3.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 745.43 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 20.70 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 5.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 15.18 in late trade. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) declined 9.63% or 1.88 points to end at 17.65 and Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) shed 9.36% or 0.16 points to 1.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 32 to 6 and 45 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.51% or 0.25 to $48.85 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.50% or 0.25 to hit $49.64 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.43% or 5.20 to trade at $1212.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.67% to 222.330, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.100.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.44.
