Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Unipol (MI:UNPI), which rose 1.42% or 0.036 points to trade at 2.580 at the close. UnipolSai Assicurazioni SpA (MI:US) added 1.38% or 0.021 points to end at 1.547 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) was up 1.30% or 0.085 points to 6.610 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO), which lost 2.50% or 0.060 points to trade at 2.340 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 2.38% or 0.0096 points to end at 0.3940 and Tenaris (MI:TENR) shed 2.09% or 0.26 points to 12.17.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 222 to 183 and 23 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.11% or 0.05 to $44.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.60% or 0.76 to hit $46.87 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.57% or 20.85 to trade at $1347.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.1242, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8368.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.88% at 94.90.
