Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.42% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aegon (AS:AEGN), which rose 1.26% or 0.055 points to trade at 4.417 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 0.98% or 0.17 points to end at 17.50 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 0.07% or 0.01 points to 22.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 5.80% or 0.24 points to trade at 3.93 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 4.30% or 0.97 points to end at 21.68 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) shed 2.27% or 0.25 points to 10.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 114 to 39 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.58% to 22.01.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.04% or 0.50 to $47.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.23% or 0.60 to hit $48.33 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.76% or 22.45 to trade at $1251.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1204, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7670.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.30.
