Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Media, Basic Materials and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which rose 1.28% or 75.00 points to trade at 5950.00 at the close. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) added 0.64% or 0.62 points to end at 97.28 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 0.08% or 0.06 points to 70.98 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which lost 3.04% or 0.19 points to trade at 6.06 in late trade. Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) declined 2.72% or 2.00 points to end at 71.50 and CD Projekt SA (WA:CDR) shed 2.60% or 1.90 points to 71.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 348 to 246 and 171 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.43% or 0.23 to $53.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $55.82 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.65 to trade at $1227.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.19% to 4.3127, while USD/PLN rose 0.53% to 4.0745.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.66.
