Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.58%, while the ADX General index fell 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which rose 3.36% or 0.110 points to trade at 3.380 at the close. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) added 0.73% or 0.010 points to end at 1.380 and Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) was up 0.52% or 0.010 points to 1.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which lost 6.78% or 0.033 points to trade at 0.454 in late trade. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 4.77% or 0.026 points to end at 0.519 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 4.35% or 0.030 points to 0.660.
The top performers on the ADX General were Foodco Holding PJSC (AD:FOOD) which rose 14.93% to 4.08, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was up 0.80% to settle at 1.260 and Finance House (AD:FH) which gained 0.55% to close at 1.820.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.66% to 2.150 in late trade, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which lost 5.68% to settle at 0.8300 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 5.00% to 1.52 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 26 to 5 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 5 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.06% or 0.03 to $48.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $49.73 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.65 to trade at $1218.35 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.03% to 4.1135.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 95.29.
