Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 8.33% or 3.50 points to trade at 42.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 2.22% or 0.05 points to end at 2.34 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.15% or 0.07 points to 6.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which fell 6.15% or 0.94 points to trade at 14.35 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 3.92% or 0.06 points to end at 1.50 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was down 3.78% or 0.74 points to 18.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 29 to 15 and 53 ended unchanged.
Shares in Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) fell to all time lows; falling 3.92% or 0.06 to 1.50.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.45% or 0.17 to $37.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.70% or 0.28 to hit $40.45 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.20 to trade at $1073.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.86% to 216.380, while USD/NGN rose 0.15% to 199.200.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 98.51.
