Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 1.09% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII), which rose 8.02% or 0.304 points to trade at 4.094 at the close. Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 4.11% or 0.62 points to end at 15.69 and UBI Banca (MI:UBI) was up 3.80% or 0.0800 points to 2.1880 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 3.69% or 0.7900 points to trade at 20.6100 in late trade. Snam (MI:SRG) declined 3.56% or 0.130 points to end at 3.524 and Recordati (MI:RECI) shed 3.43% or 0.88 points to 24.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 219 to 181 and 28 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.37% or 2.16 to $51.60 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.75% or 2.46 to hit $54.30 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.59% or 6.90 to trade at $1167.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.0626, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8443.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 101.29.
