Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 3.40% or 0.395 points to trade at 12.010 at the close. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) added 3.07% or 0.147 points to end at 4.933 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 2.96% or 0.052 points to 1.811 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 2.88% or 0.044 points to trade at 1.485 in late trade. Bankia (MC:BKIA) declined 0.39% or 0.003 points to end at 0.765 and Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) shed 0.20% or 0.011 points to 5.382.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 139 to 53 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.08% or 0.95 to $1246.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.76% or 0.38 to hit $50.07 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.57 to trade at $51.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1349, while EUR/GBP fell 0.85% to 0.7796.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 93.90.
