Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 6.64% or 0.94 points to trade at 15.09 at the close. Meanwhile, ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 5.49% or 0.05 points to end at 0.96 and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) was up 4.48% or 0.80 points to 18.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 6.50% or 1.04 points to trade at 14.96 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 5.46% or 1.30 points to end at 22.50 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 5.37% or 0.19 points to 3.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 147 to 142 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.50% or 1.04 to 14.96. Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.37% or 0.19 to 3.35.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.28% to 37.08.
Gold for December delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1087.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.81% or 0.40 to hit $48.40 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.59% or 3.15 to trade at $124.88 .
USD/BRL was up 1.26% to 3.3729, while EUR/BRL rose 0.78% to 3.6879.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 97.61.
