Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 0.63% or 0.14 points to trade at 21.72 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) fell 0.07% or 0.04 points to end at 53.37 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) was down 0.13% or 0.15 points to 111.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 2.72% or 0.845 points to trade at 30.205 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 1.69% or 0.71 points to end at 41.64 and Elia (BR:ELI) shed 1.63% or 0.770 points to 46.505.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 97 to 43 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.34% or 4.55 to $1325.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.62% or 0.29 to hit $47.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.40 to trade at $49.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1276, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.8552.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 94.75.
