Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Plastic, Chemical and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hitron Tech (TW:2419), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Mosel (TW:2342) added 9.65% or 0.22 points to end at 2.50 and Shinih (TW:9944) was up 9.44% or 2.35 points to 27.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tonlin Dept (TW:2910), which fell 9.56% or 2.80 points to trade at 26.50 at the close. Shining Bldg (TW:5531) declined 4.02% or 0.45 points to end at 10.75 and Hung Sheng Con (TW:2534) was down 3.90% or 0.75 points to 18.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 530 to 308 and 8 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.15% or 0.06 to $36.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.30% or 0.11 to hit $36.61 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.21% or 2.20 to trade at $1062.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.53% to 32.871, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1974.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 98.30.
