Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Trading & Consumer Goods and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 9.93% or 4.85 points to trade at 53.70 at the close. Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) added 9.89% or 2.35 points to end at 26.10 and Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) was up 9.86% or 0.140 points to 1.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which lost 9.80% or 0.93 points to trade at 8.56 in late trade. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) declined 9.09% or 0.180 points to end at 1.800 and Flytech (TW:6206) shed 6.26% or 6.60 points to 98.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 483 to 249 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.62% or 0.75 to $47.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.40% or 0.67 to hit $48.44 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.33% or 4.35 to trade at $1320.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.42% to 32.386, while TWD/CNY rose 0.34% to 0.2054.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 96.15.
