Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 3.72% or 2.150 points to trade at 60.000 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 2.91% or 0.34 points to end at 11.86 and Elia (BR:ELI) was up 2.39% or 1.105 points to 47.305 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which lost 2.28% or 0.295 points to trade at 12.620 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.12% or 0.630 points to end at 55.780 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.54% or 0.21 points to 39.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 45 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.61% or 7.15 to $1169.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.01% or 1.04 to hit $50.75 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.89% or 1.04 to trade at $53.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.0702, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8441.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 100.61.
