Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Glass and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Maxtek Tech (TW:3315), which rose 9.96% or 2.30 points to trade at 25.40 at the close. Jung Shing Wir (TW:1617) added 9.93% or 0.86 points to end at 9.52 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) was up 9.92% or 1.75 points to 19.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ennoconn (TW:6414), which lost 9.92% or 35.50 points to trade at 322.50 in late trade. Kseco (TW:5521) declined 9.71% or 1.35 points to end at 12.55 and Taliang (TW:3167) shed 9.42% or 3.60 points to 34.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 643 to 158 and 76 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.36% or 0.19 to $52.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.30% or 0.17 to hit $55.81 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.35 to trade at $1258.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 30.645, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2256.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.96.
