Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Consumer & Cyclical and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.07%, while the MDAX index declined 0.18%, and the TecDAX index added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which rose 1.70% or 1.390 points to trade at 83.010 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.25% or 0.790 points to end at 64.150 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.22% or 0.320 points to 26.470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 1.24% or 0.220 points to trade at 17.550 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 1.17% or 1.40 points to end at 118.20 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) shed 1.07% or 0.980 points to 90.330.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which rose 3.86% to 487.30, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 2.54% to settle at 23.625 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which gained 1.74% to close at 45.20.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 2.82% to 4.35 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 1.95% to settle at 18.070 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 1.82% to 59.830 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.09% to 7.197, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was up 2.87% to settle at 64.150 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which gained 0.70% to close at 10.795.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 3.40% to 13.307 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 2.13% to settle at 14.730 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.00% to 11.530 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 477 to 285 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.16% to 14.12.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.13% or 1.53 to $1214.73 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.96% or 0.87 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 0.88 to trade at $47.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1435, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 95.70.
