Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 5.70% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Reds (AT:CAMr), which rose 9.35% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.339 at the close. Meanwhile, Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) added 4.25% or 0.031 points to end at 0.760 and Iaso (AT:IASr) was up 2.13% or 0.010 points to 0.480 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which fell 17.62% or 0.034 points to trade at 0.159 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) declined 14.79% or 0.125 points to end at 0.720 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was down 11.58% or 0.220 points to 1.680.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 89 to 21 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) fell to all time lows; falling 17.62% or 0.034 to 0.159. Shares in Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) fell to 52-week lows; losing 14.79% or 0.125 to 0.720. Shares in Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) fell to 52-week lows; losing 11.58% or 0.220 to 1.680.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.18% or 12.90 to $1102.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 4.40% or 1.30 to hit $28.27 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 3.74% or 1.07 to trade at $27.68 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0901, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.7682.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 99.08.
