Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 8.10% or 0.32 points to trade at 4.27 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 7.22% or 2.22 points to end at 32.95 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was up 5.79% or 0.42 points to 7.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oi SA (SA:OIBR3), which lost 4.44% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.86 in late trade. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 1.80% or 0.56 points to end at 30.62 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) shed 1.33% or 0.97 points to 72.13.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 196 to 103 and 18 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.20% to 40.72 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.39% or 4.85 to $1245.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.99% or 1.70 to hit $44.34 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.55% or 1.92 to trade at $125.72 .
USD/BRL was down 0.85% to 3.5269, while EUR/BRL fell 0.67% to 3.9825.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 94.52.
