Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumption, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 21.01% or 1.83 points to trade at 10.54 at the close. Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) added 6.25% or 0.40 points to end at 6.80 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.67% or 0.85 points to 15.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which lost 4.52% or 0.35 points to trade at 7.40 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) declined 4.49% or 0.46 points to end at 9.79 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) shed 3.82% or 0.28 points to 7.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 189 to 125 and 20 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.50% to 40.81.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.56% or 7.15 to $1268.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.45% or 0.21 to hit $46.44 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.37% or 0.48 to trade at $130.25 .
USD/BRL was up 0.97% to 3.4832, while EUR/BRL rose 0.43% to 3.9629.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.12.
