Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which rose 5.27% or 0.0381 points to trade at 0.7611 at the close. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) added 4.80% or 2.45 points to end at 53.45 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) was up 4.23% or 14.80 points to 364.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MMK (MCX:MAGN), which lost 3.88% or 1.285 points to trade at 31.850 in late trade. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) declined 3.83% or 1.240 points to end at 31.160 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) shed 2.43% or 0.735 points to 29.525.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 112 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.59% to 26.680.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.30% or 3.95 to $1325.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.53% or 0.25 to hit $47.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.35 to trade at $49.40 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.65% to 64.7343, while EUR/RUB fell 0.63% to 73.005.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 94.75.
