Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were NN Group (AS:NN), which rose 2.12% or 0.57 points to trade at 27.50 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 2.09% or 0.111 points to end at 5.426 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 1.65% or 0.68 points to 41.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 4.44% or 2.690 points to trade at 57.950 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 0.28% or 0.030 points to end at 10.800 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 0.21% or 0.50 points to 242.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 123 to 51 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.52% to 17.16.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.04% or 0.91 to $45.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 2.36% or 1.10 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.55% or 7.35 to trade at $1323.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1201, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.52.
