Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Paper & Pulp and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.34% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were TOPBI International Holdings Ltd (TW:2929), which rose 9.47% or 9.00 points to trade at 104.00 at the close. Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co Ltd (TW:2421) added 9.26% or 4.05 points to end at 47.80 and Ta Jiang Co Ltd (TW:1453) was up 7.01% or 0.54 points to 8.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which lost 10.00% or 3.35 points to trade at 30.15 in late trade. Patec Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2236) declined 9.98% or 5.70 points to end at 51.40 and Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) shed 9.97% or 7.80 points to 70.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 753 to 75 and 47 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.36% or 0.18 to $49.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.44% or 0.23 to hit $52.93 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 5.17 to trade at $1284.47 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.30% to 30.315, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2208.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 93.58.
