Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Fishery, Transportation Equipment and Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4272), which rose 12.09% or 140.0 points to trade at 1298.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Ricoh Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:7752) added 9.31% or 105.5 points to end at 1239.0 and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TOKYO:6302) was up 7.61% or 37.0 points to 523.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3110), which fell 18.55% or 97.0 points to trade at 426.0 at the close. Heiwa Real Estate Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8803) declined 13.86% or 197.0 points to end at 1224.0 and Obayashi Corp. (TOKYO:1802) was down 2.87% or 30.0 points to 1016.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1110 to 766.
Shares in Heiwa Real Estate Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8803) fell to 52-week lows; losing 13.86% or 197.0 to 1224.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 10.05% to 35.25.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.72% or 0.33 to $45.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.74% or 0.36 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1121.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 119.24, while EUR/JPY rose 0.19% to 132.88.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.29.
