Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.30% or 0.580 points to trade at 45.300 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.82% or 0.30 points to end at 36.87 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.56% or 0.65 points to 116.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 1.86% or 0.53 points to trade at 28.00 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.51% or 0.745 points to end at 48.440 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) shed 1.21% or 1.12 points to 91.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 72 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.54% or 6.90 to $1281.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.22% or 0.58 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.40 to trade at $49.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1339, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7831.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 94.34.
