Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which rose 10.00% or 0.73 points to trade at 8.03 at the close. Young Optics (TW:3504) added 9.93% or 3.00 points to end at 33.20 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was up 9.89% or 0.180 points to 2.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dfi (TW:2397), which lost 5.69% or 3.00 points to trade at 49.70 in late trade. Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) declined 5.33% or 0.24 points to end at 4.26 and Cyberpower (TW:3617) shed 4.05% or 5.00 points to 118.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 446 to 264 and 143 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.22% or 0.11 to $49.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.14 to hit $50.02 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.12% or 1.50 to trade at $1271.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 32.122, while TWD/CNY rose 0.29% to 0.2055.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 93.53.
