Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Resources and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.28% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index gained 0.95%, and the TecDAX index added 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.31% or 0.282 points to trade at 8.803 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.90% or 0.450 points to end at 15.955 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 2.46% or 0.460 points to 19.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 0.61% or 0.090 points to trade at 14.700 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 0.41% or 0.14 points to end at 32.46 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) gained 0.17% or 0.20 points to 119.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 3.07% to 33.210, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 3.04% to settle at 70.100 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which gained 2.65% to close at 62.040.
The worst performers were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 0.71% to 60.560 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which lost 0.60% to settle at 12.460 and Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which was down 0.50% to 428.40 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 8.55% to 8.795, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 4.83% to settle at 119.45 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 3.74% to close at 37.55.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.03% to 23.970 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 0.31% to settle at 12.815 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 0.23% to 26.595 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 514 to 220 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.20% to 14.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1253.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.89% or 0.90 to hit $48.63 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.73% or 0.88 to trade at $51.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.0850, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8683.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 99.16.
