Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 6.24% or 0.37 points to trade at 6.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) added 5.18% or 1.58 points to end at 32.06 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 4.71% or 1.26 points to 28.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which fell 6.34% or 0.67 points to trade at 9.89 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) declined 4.72% or 0.40 points to end at 8.08 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 4.37% or 0.470 points to 10.280.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 188 to 149 and 4 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.68% to 41.93.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.65% or 7.20 to $1106.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.15% or 1.51 to hit $46.39 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.35% or 0.42 to trade at $120.50 .
USD/BRL was up 0.62% to 3.7943, while EUR/BRL fell 0.41% to 4.1191.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.84% at 98.06.
