Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3), which rose 5.58% or 0.67 points to trade at 12.67 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 5.33% or 0.75 points to end at 14.81 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) was up 5.07% or 1.34 points to 27.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3), which lost 2.17% or 0.29 points to trade at 13.05 in late trade. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) declined 1.67% or 0.26 points to end at 15.30 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) shed 1.19% or 0.24 points to 19.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 246 to 117 and 33 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.94% to 31.36.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.15% or 1.83 to $1230.43 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.00% or 0.91 to hit $46.43 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.59% or 0.80 to trade at $135.85 .
USD/BRL was down 0.34% to 3.1788, while EUR/BRL fell 0.25% to 3.4953.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 98.45.
