Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Household and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 2.99%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Lamda Develop (AT:LMDr), which rose 10.83% or 0.39 points to trade at 3.99 at the close. Meanwhile, J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) added 9.70% or 0.029 points to end at 0.328 and Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) was up 9.60% or 1.20 points to 13.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which fell 29.94% or 0.097 points to trade at 0.227 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) declined 22.62% or 0.10 points to end at 0.33 and Autohellas (AT:AUTr) was down 9.96% or 1.12 points to 10.13.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 57 to 38 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) fell to all time lows; down 29.94% or 0.097 to 0.227. Shares in National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) fell to all time lows; losing 22.62% or 0.10 to 0.33.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.25% or 2.70 to $1073.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.78% or 0.29 to hit $36.87 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.35 to trade at $39.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.0946, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.7210.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 97.83.
