July 24 (The Sports Xchange) - The St. Louis Cardinals
acquired right-handed reliever Steve Cishek in a trade Friday
with the Miami Marlins.
The Marlins received minor-league right-hander Kyle
Barraclough, who was on the Double-A Springfield roster.
Cishek, 29, began the season as the Marlins' closer before
being removed from the role in mid-May.
He had a brief stint in early June at Double-A Jacksonville
but, since returning to the Marlins on June 14, he had posted a
0.71 ERA over 12 1/3 innings in 13 games while striking out 11.
Cishek is 2-6 with a 4.50 ERA and three saves over 32
innings in his 32 games this season.
Barraclough, 25, was drafted by the Cardinals in the seventh
round of the 2012 draft out of St. Mary's (Calif.) College. He
is 3-0 with 12 saves and a 2.27 ERA in Class A and Double-A this
season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed pitching ace Zack Greinke on
the paternity list on Friday.
The All-Star right-hander was scheduled to start Friday
night in New York, but he returned Thursday morning to Los
Angeles, where wife Emily delivered their first child, son Bode
Nicholas.
The Dodgers recalled right-hander Josh Ravin from Triple-A
Oklahoma City to fill Greinke's roster spot. Left-handed
reliever Ian Thomas was set to start Friday night.

New York Mets outfield prospect Michael Conforto could debut
Friday night after being recalled to replace Michael Cuddyer.
Conforto was drafted 10th overall in 2014 and is the No. 1
position prospect in the organization.
The Mets' offense has been an issue of late. Conforto has a
.311 batting average in the minors, including .312 with five
home runs and 12 doubles in 2015.
Cuddyer was sidelined by a knee injury for nearly two weeks
and played in just two games during that span. He was placed on
the 15-day disabled list.
