Joe Biden is beginning his speech to the Canadian parliament, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau currently delivering introductory remarks.
Biden's motorcade arrived on Parliament Hill shortly before noon, before Trudeau greeted him outside parliament and led him into the West Block. The West Block is currently serving as the temporary home of Canada's House of Commons while the main one is undergoing a decade-long renovation.
Following his arrival, Biden was greeted by dignitaries including Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, the leader of other parties, senators, the House of Commons Speaker and parliamentary clerks.
Following Biden’s arrival, Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met for bilateral talks at which clean energy, migration, critical minerals and economic growth were reported to be top priorities on the agenda. The visit marks President Biden’s first to Canada as the U.S. president, although he has visited in his previous capacity as Vice President to Barack Obama.
