Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Biotech & Medical Care and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tai Twun (TW:3432), which rose 9.96% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.25 at the close. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) added 9.93% or 0.570 points to end at 6.310 and Honmyue Enter (TW:1474) was up 9.57% or 1.00 points to 11.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included China Tv (TW:9928), which lost 8.65% or 0.45 points to trade at 4.75 in late trade. Compucase (TW:3032) declined 5.46% or 2.85 points to end at 49.35 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) shed 5.39% or 0.24 points to 4.21.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 373 to 333 and 140 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.48% or 0.24 to $49.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.39% or 0.20 to hit $51.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1268.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 31.401, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2115.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.24.
