Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is making sharp cuts to its initial production targets for its Vision Pro headset, according to the Financial Times.
Apple supplier Luxshare is set to produce fewer than 400,000 units of Vision Pro in 2024, the Financial Times reports citing people close to Apple and China-based Luxshare. Changes have been made due to the difficulties in the manufacturing of the micro-OLED displays.
Apple was previously hoping to sell 1 million units of the Vision Pro headset in the first 12 months. The Cupertino-based giant has now asked Chinese suppliers to produce enough components for 130,000-150,000 units in the first year.
The company has also pushed back on plans to develop a more affordable version of the AR/VR headset.
Apple’s newly-announced Vision Pro headset has a starting price of $3,499.
