Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Plastic, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.36% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gamma Optical (TW:3557), which rose 10.00% or 0.440 points to trade at 4.840 at the close. China Petroche (TW:1314) added 9.97% or 0.88 points to end at 9.71 and Favite (TW:3535) was up 9.96% or 1.30 points to 14.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which lost 5.91% or 1.20 points to trade at 19.10 in late trade. Formosa Lab (TW:4746) declined 4.20% or 3.80 points to end at 86.60 and Space Shuttle (TW:2440) shed 3.56% or 0.30 points to 8.12.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 435 to 309 and 125 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.62% or 0.32 to $51.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.51% or 0.27 to hit $52.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.30 to trade at $1271.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.23% to 31.563, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2136.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 98.01.
